If you build it, they will come

Who can forget that line from the baseball movie starring Kevin Costner, James Earl Jones, Amy Maddigan and Ray Liotta about the farmer who builds a baseball diamond in his cornfield? Remember? A Field of Dreams.

Well, as my dad told me when we lived in Pennsylvania and had a pond in the backyard, "If you have water, the frogs will find it." In this case, it's more along the lines of if you set a birdhouse on the front porch, a bird will build a nest in it.

I bought these birdhouses at a flea market recently and was considering sending them to my dad for his flock of backyard birds to take residence in. While my mind was waiting to be made up, the birdhouses were set on the front porch purely for decoration.

Until yesterday, that is, when John noticed a bird flying out of the white one. Sure enough, a sparrow has claimed it and is busily readying it for nesting. Wonder how long until the yellow birdhouse is claimed?
