In case you're wondering

Thought a few of you might be curious what Grace did to earn a time-out in her room while Ellie was downstairs involved in the now infamous syrup escapade.

You may remember a few posts re: potty training from...oh...this time last year. In particular, the unforgettable poop-on-the-train-track incident. I'm happy to report that those days are (written with all fingers and toes crossed) pretty much over.

Ellie has the pee-ing thing down. Pooping, in the potty that is, is still scary. She'll get there though. Sooner is preferable to later, but I'm not going to push her into doing something she's just not ready for. The retaliatory possibilities available in such a case are far too numerous and yucky to even consider.

Grace, oh-she-of-the-aforementioned-poop-on-the-train-track incident, is now quite comfortable availing herself of the bathroom facilities for not only #1, but #2 as well. Yep, Grace has taken the lead if the lead can be taken when it comes to potty training.

Of course, rewards of 1 M&M for successfully doing #1 in the potty and 2 M&M's for successfully doing #2 have been very inspirational.

Still, with Grace's accomplishments in this area, one can understand why it was so upsetting when she peed on the floor this morning. That in itself is aggravating, but not quite time-out worthy. So what elevated it's worthiness?

Well, hmmm, let me see. Could be because Grace was in the bathroom standing on the potty/foot stool (close the lid and the potty becomes a footstool) trying to reach the hand gel when the urge to urinate struck. Never one to ignore Mother Nature's call, she peed. Yep, standing on the closed potty lid, Grace peed on the lid and, naturally, it flowed off and onto the floor.

Stop laughing. It really isn't polite and I can hear it from here.

Okay. Maybe the mental picture is a bit funny, but it wasn't overly humorous to me at the time. In attempting to impart my unhappiness, I gave Grace a time-out.

And left Ellie downstairs alone with waffles and strawberries on her plate and the syrup bottle on the counter. In my own defense, I feel it necessary to report that said waffles already had syrup on them. Obviously, the amount wasn't up to Ellie's standards. The rest is history...

And if anyone would like to review the train track incident or wasn't on my email list at the time, just leave a comment and your email requesting a transcript or just email me.
